Accessibility
We would rather you asked us a specific question than relied on a general promise. Tell us what you need and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot do.
The fairgrounds are an old set of buildings, barns and open ground that have grown up over more than a century. Some of it works well for people with mobility needs and some of it does not. We are documenting which is which.
Ask before you come
If you tell us what you need, we can tell you what to expect, where to park, which route across the grounds works best, and what we can arrange. That is a much better answer than anything a web page can give you.
There is no wrong question, and you will not be putting anyone out by asking.
Getting around the fairgrounds
We are working through the grounds and writing down what is actually there. Until that is finished, this page does not make claims it cannot stand behind. Please call and ask about anything below.
-
Accessible parking
[REPLACE: ACCESSIBLE_PARKING - where it is, how many spaces, the surface, and how far it is from the main gate.]
-
Getting from parking to the gate
[REPLACE: ROUTE_TO_GATE - surface, gradient, and whether there are steps or kerbs.]
-
Paths and surfaces on the grounds
[REPLACE: GROUND_SURFACES - which areas are paved, which are gravel, dirt or grass, and which are difficult in a wheelchair or with a walking frame.]
-
Accessible restrooms
[REPLACE: ACCESSIBLE_RESTROOMS - where they are, and whether the entrances have steps.]
-
Seating at the arena and grandstands
[REPLACE: ACCESSIBLE_SEATING - whether there is accessible seating, where, and whether it needs booking.]
-
Exhibit halls and barns
[REPLACE: BUILDING_ACCESS - which buildings can be entered without steps, and which cannot.]
-
Accessible campsites
[REPLACE: ACCESSIBLE_CAMPSITES - whether any campsites are accessible, and how to request one. Campground information]
-
Wheelchair or mobility scooter hire
[REPLACE: MOBILITY_HIRE - whether any is available on site during the Fair, or say plainly that none is.]
A note on how we will write this. When these are filled in, they will say what is not accessible as well as what is. Knowing that a particular building has a step at the door is more useful than not knowing, and much more useful than being told it is accessible when it is not.
Service animals
Service animals are welcome at the fairgrounds.
There is livestock on the grounds during the Fair, and the barns and show rings can be a difficult environment for a working dog. If you would like to know which areas to avoid, or where there is somewhere quieter to take a break, call and we will talk it through with you.
[REPLACE: SERVICE_ANIMAL_POLICY - if the Association has adopted specific wording on service animals, replace this section with it. Note that the one pet per site rule in the campground rules applies to pets, not service animals, and the campground page should say so.]
Coming with a carer or companion
[REPLACE: COMPANION_ADMISSION - whether a carer or personal assistant is admitted at a reduced rate or free. Many fairs offer this and it is worth stating either way.]
Quiet spaces
[REPLACE: QUIET_SPACE - a fair is loud and crowded. If there is somewhere quieter people can go, say where. If there is not, that is worth knowing too.]

This website
How this site was built
This website was rebuilt in 2026 with older visitors and slow rural connections in mind. Specifically:
- Text is large by default, with generous line spacing.
- Buttons and links are at least 44 by 44 pixels, so they are easy to tap.
- Text and background colours meet contrast standards.
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, and the focused item is always visibly outlined.
- Every page works with JavaScript switched off. No information is hidden behind a script.
- Headings are properly ordered so screen readers can navigate by them.
- Nothing relies on colour alone to make a point.
- Animation is reduced automatically if your device asks for that.
- Key pages are laid out to print sensibly.
If something on this site does not work for you
We have not had this site formally audited, so we are not going to claim it is perfect. If a page is hard to read, a form is hard to complete, or something does not work with your screen reader or magnifier, please tell us.
[email protected] or (530) 628-5223. Tell us which page and what happened, and we will fix it.
