Get involved

Volunteer

The Trinity County Fair would not happen without volunteers, before, during, and after Fair week. Every community event held at the fairgrounds needs help, and there is always more to do than there are people to do it.

You do not need experience, and you do not need to commit to much. Tell us roughly what you are willing to do and we will find a spot that fits.

Where help is needed

These are the areas that come up most often. If none of them are your thing, say so on the form and we will find something else.

  • Front gate and admissions

Taking tickets and welcoming people in. Easy to learn, and you see everybody.

  • Exhibit halls

Receiving entries, helping exhibitors, and keeping an eye on the displays.

  • Livestock and small animal shows

Check in, weigh in, ring help, and general assistance around the barns.

  • Set up

The days before an event, when everything gets moved, built, and cleaned.

  • Clean up

Afterwards, which is less glamorous and every bit as necessary.

  • The parade

Line up, entry numbers, and keeping the route moving on parade day.

  • Contests and lawn stage

Pinewood derby, pedal tractor races, talent show, and the rest of the fun.

  • Serving on a committee

Year round work on events, buildings and grounds, finance, or junior livestock.

  • Something else

Got a truck, a trade, or an afternoon? Tell us and we will put it to use.

What to expect

Signing up here does not commit you to a shift. It tells the Fair Office you are willing, and someone will contact you when there is something that matches what you offered.

Most volunteering happens around Fair week in July and the Harvest Festival in September, but events run all year and committees meet through the winter.

[REPLACE: SHIFT_AND_TRAINING_DETAIL - if there are typical shift lengths, a minimum commitment, training, meals, or admission for volunteers on shift, describe them here. Leave this out rather than estimating.]

Who can volunteer

Anyone willing to help. You do not need to be a member of the Fair Association, and you do not need to live in Hayfork.

[REPLACE: MINORS_POLICY - the Association has no documented policy on volunteers under 18, supervision, or waivers. Until it does, this page tells families to call rather than inviting young people to sign up on their own. Replace this paragraph once a policy exists.]

Volunteering with a young person? Call the Fair Office at (530) 628-5223 and we will sort out what works.

Sign up to volunteer

Short form. Most of it is optional. The only things we really need are your name and a way to reach you.

[REPLACE: VOLUNTEER_FORM_EMBED]

We use what you send to contact you about volunteering. See our privacy policy. We will not add you to a mailing list unless you tick the box asking for updates.

Rather not use a form?

Call, write, or stop by. Any of these works just as well.

Post the form to Trinity County Fair Association, P.O. Box 880, Hayfork, CA 96041.

Year round

More than Fair week

The Association's standing committees cover events and fundraising, buildings and grounds, finance, junior livestock, motorsports, equestrian events, and the logging show. They include community volunteers, not only directors, and they meet through the year.

Board meetings are open to everyone, and anyone who signs in may speak. Coming to one is a good way to see what needs doing.
