Visit
Plan your visit
The Trinity County Fairgrounds and Event Center are at 6000 Highway 3 in Hayfork, in the Hayfork Valley.
Whether you are coming for the Fair, an event, or to camp, here is the practical side of getting here and what to expect.
Getting here
Trinity County Fairgrounds and Event Center
6000 Highway 3
Hayfork, CA 96041
[REPLACE: DRIVING_DIRECTIONS - approach directions from Weaverville, Redding, and Highway 36, with approximate driving times, and any landmark that tells a first time visitor they have arrived. Have someone local check these before publishing. Do not copy them from a mapping service.]
Coming from out of the area? Save or print your directions before you set off rather than relying on looking them up on the way.
Parking
[REPLACE: PARKING_INFORMATION - where visitors park, whether there is a charge, where accessible parking is, and what changes during Fair week. If parking is free, say so plainly. It is one of the most common questions and the site currently cannot answer it.]
Worth knowing before you come
-
July gets hot
Fair week is in the middle of summer, and much of the grounds is open. Bring water, a hat, and sun protection, and plan on finding shade in the middle of the day.
-
Bring cash
[REPLACE: CASH_AND_CARDS - confirm whether there is an ATM on the grounds and whether the gate and vendors take cards. Until then this card errs on the side of telling people to bring cash, which is the safer advice.]
-
Smoking and vaping
Not permitted anywhere on the fairgrounds except in designated areas.
-
Bringing a dog
[REPLACE: PET_POLICY - the fairgrounds pet policy for events. The one pet per site rule applies to the campground only and must not be presented as a general policy. Service animals should be addressed separately, on the accessibility page.]
-
Coolers and outside food
[REPLACE: COOLER_AND_FOOD_POLICY - whether visitors may bring in food, drink, or coolers, and any bag policy.]
-
Leaving and coming back
[REPLACE: RE_ENTRY_POLICY - whether a ticket allows re-entry on the same day, which matters to families with young children.]
The carnival is run separately. Amusement rides at the Fair are operated by an outside company, with their own tickets and their own rules. The Fair Office cannot answer questions about ride heights or ride tickets.
Staying over
There is camping on the fairgrounds itself, with full hookup, electric, and dry sites for RVs, trailers, and tents, available by the day, week, or month.
Camping during Fair week works differently to the rest of the year, so check the campground page before you book.
[REPLACE: LOCAL_LODGING - if the Association wants to point visitors at motels or lodging in Hayfork, list only businesses that have agreed to be listed and are currently trading. A dead listing is worse than none. Alternatively link to the county visitor bureau and let them maintain it.]
Admission
Admission prices are set each year and published before the Fair. Events held on the grounds by other organisations set their own admission.
[REPLACE: FIRST_AID_AND_LOST_CHILD - where first aid is located during the Fair and what a parent should do if they are separated from a child. Both are worth stating plainly and neither is documented anywhere at present.]
